Some of the most important dinosaur fossils ever discovered in Africa were found in Tendaguru, located in southern Tanzania.

Excavations carried out in the early 20th century revealed a rich collection of dinosaur remains, including giant species such as Giraffatitan brancai (formerly classified as Brachiosaurus), one of the largest land animals to have ever lived.

These discoveries made Tendaguru one of the most significant dinosaur fossil sites in the world, placing Tanzania on the global map of paleontological research. Today, the site remains an important symbol of the country’s deep prehistoric heritage and scientific importance.
